An Educator. An Activist. A Leader.
"Invest in the human soul.
Who knows, it might be a
diamond in the rough".
-Mary McLeod Bethune
Mary McLeod Bethune made great change in America. She was a guiding light to many African-Americans who were lost, racially discriminated against, and not given the same opportunities as many white men, women, and children. Although Mary served all African-Americans, she focused on African-American girls and women. The photograph to the left was taken while Mary Bethune worked as a activist for the National Council of Negro Women. Mary Bethune founded the NCNW in 1935.
